The Basilica has its paintings back

In 2018, Perfect Hanging Systems was commissioned to supply the hanging systems for hanging the restored miracle paintings and also to hang the paintings themselves. For this project a 6 meter high scaffold had to be built.

After a quarter of a century of absence, the 13 miracle paintings were once again hung in the tower hall of St Martin's Basilica in Halle in Belgium. The scenes depict miracles, miracles that Our Lady of Halle would have had a hand in.

The artworks hung in the church from the 17th century, but after the Pro Arte Hallensis working group started a restoration project, they moved for years to the studios of the academies of Anderlecht and Antwerp for a thorough makeover. The works were blackened with candlestick so little that they could be distinguished, and therefore the visitors to the basilica barely gave the canvases a glance. But in 1993, Pro Arte Hallensis started a restoration project in collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation. A lot of people from Hallen have sponsored the restoration work.
